WHY CAD OUTSOURCING?

With the advent of high speed broadband Internet and increased globalisation, reaching out cheaper and feasible solutions has been common. Things have not been different when it comes to architecture & CAD outsourcing. Being a relatively new phenomenon in the field of architectural design & drafting, cad outsourcing can work out to be a great advantage for you and your clients and give you a competitive edge.

TIPS FOR CAD OUTSOURCING MANAGEMENT:

(A) define the objectives of the proposed CAD outsourcing contract.

Subjects to address:

  • Which input documents will you be giving the contractor?

  • Which output documents do you expect?

  • What is the weekly project schedule?

  • @ what interval do you want the contractor to send you the work in progress?

  • What is the procedure for acceptance of the product?

  • What is your payment schedule?

  • What is the payment method?

(B) Put the above subjects into a contract.

The contract could also contain non-disclosure clauses if required.

(C) Use solid communication methods

  • Instant messenger programs are good for discussion sessions.

  • Email mailboxes need capacities to handle larger files.

  • For frequent large volume transfers, one of you should have an ftp server.

Sign up for this service @ www.cadprojects.net if required.

  • If voice communication is required, try www.skype.com

  • Both you and the contractor should have access to a scanner.

(D) Be ready with support services for your contractors.

  • The contractor will typically have technical questions. You specifically reserved time for providing the answers.

  • Be readily available to help, build confidence as well as a relationship between you and the contractor.

(E) Develop a partner relationship with the contractor.

  • Start with small jobs to build confidence and piece of mind for both parties.

  • Gradually build up workloads & maintain good business relationships, treat your

contractors as a department of your company.
